Guided Walk: The Home Front - 11th September, 11am

As part of Heritage Open Days, this walk explores key sites and events in Hertford during the war.

Hertford welcomed evacuees from London and soldiers to the town.

People were urged to “Dig for Victory”, “Make Do and Mend” and fund raise for planes and warships.

Volunteers joined the Home Guard and ARP (Air Raid Precautions). But people found time to enjoy themselves at the cinema and concerts.

The starting point for this walk is the Hertford War Memorial.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets also available in person from Hertford Town & Tourist Information Centre at 10 - 12 The Wash, opposite BEAM, or over the telephone, 01992 584322.

Opening hours are: Tuesdays - Saturdays, 9:30am - 5pm.
